WITH the support of UITP, the African Association of Public Transport (UATP) opened a liaison office in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 20 April, to be hosted by the Gauteng Metropolitan Transport Authority (GTMA).
This new office is largely welcomed by local public transport stakeholders and its inauguration by Hans Rat, UITP Secretary General and Ousmane Thiam, UATP Chairman, was attended by representatives from several African transport authorities.
The liaison office will cover the Eastern and Southern Africa regions with the aim to better respond to our local members’ needs, increase membership and support all UITP members worldwide willing to explore these new markets.
Thank you to Gauteng Department of Public Transport and GTMA for their invaluable support to this achievement.
