Memorandum for the French Presidency of the European Union
The UITP European Union Committee (EUC) represents the views of the public transport undertakings of the 27 European member countries.
With its Memorandum, the UITP EU Committee puts forward priorities for the French Presidency of the European Union:
- Priorities for the forthcoming Strategic Action Plan (based on the Green Paper ‘Towards a new culture for urban mobility’);
- Key issues for the internalisation of external effects of road transport;
- Main concerns on the proposal for a directive on the Promotion of Clean Road Vehicles.
It highlights that modal shift and change of personal mobility choices represent major stakes for the development of sustainable urban mobility. Supporting and encouraging those efforts should be a political priority of the European Union.
