    UITP Industry Division

Introduction - Working topics - List of members - Information for members

    Introduction

The Industry Committee was first created in 1993 and became the Industry Division in 2001 with the full member status.

The objective of the Industry Division is to establish the supply industry as a strong stakeholder to support public transport as an attractive, environmental friendly and economic contribution to modern sustainable mobility.

Key issues include establishing a good cooperation with the operators, eliminate the complexity and reduce the total cost of ownership in all modes of public transport for the sake of the passengers and the health of our cities and societies.

As members of UITP the supply industry shares the values of the public transportation sector and establishes itself as the “internationally recognized voice” seconded by a Committee of international transport industry leaders.

In 2007 the Industry Division counts over 330 industrial suppliers in 40 countries.

The Industry Division is represented by the Industry Steering Committee and also comprises two Committees represented by five supplier groups:

    Vehicles and Equipment Industry Committee

      - Rail solutions Group. It counts 40 members and its representative is Hubert de Blay, from Alstom Transport.
      - Bus solutions Group. It counts 28 members and its representative is Rolf Hedberg, from Scania.
      - Equipment Group (gearboxes, axles and steering systems, airco etc). It counts 18 members and its representative is Huub Hendrickx, Voith.

Information Technology and Service Industry Committee

      - IT Applications like ticket vending machines, passenger information systems , smart cards, other peripherical equipment. It counts 50 members and its representative is Frithjof Struye, Scheidt & Bachmann
      - Services, such as Consultancy, Engineering, Maintenance, Refurbishment, Testing, etc. It counts 215 members and its representative is Robert W. Huber, AESYS

The Industry Division is open to any initiative of cooperation with its customers.
This cooperation can take two forms:

      - When a study performed by operators members of the Association implies the industry, UITP Industry members can be consulted in the final phase to discuss or enhance the conclusions
      - Industry members are available to work together with operators on common topics of interest. UITP Industry members are ready to listen and help putting the results into practice is there is a chance to do so.
